LES MIS TRAILER
I feel like I should be more excited for this…
But I’m not really?
I dunno. I never got into musicals like at all (and I’m not saying that I wouldn’t get into them just that I haven’t yet), but I read the book when I was thirteen, and I remember thinking it was the greatest thing I’d ever read.
So… maybe I will still go see it. And maybe I will even like it. Though some of the casting choices have me over here scratching my head.
I don’t agree with all of the casting choices and Hathaway’s performance of “I Dreamed a Dream” is definitely not the strongest I’ve ever heard, but I can’t be bothered because they. made. Les. Mis. into. a. fucking. movie-musical.
I have been waiting for this longer since I can remember caring about anything. The first time through watching the trailer, it legit started raining on my face from not being able to hold all the feels. You know how little girls dream about their wedding and start planning who their bridesmaids will be and the catering? Like a six year old gives a shit about seating charts. That is how emotionally invested I am in this movie. You’ve been dreaming your whole life about your wedding day? That’s fine. I’ve been dreaming about a Les Mis movie-musical.
I spent several birthday wishes on this venture and it’s finally happening and I’m so fucking stoked I could kiss everyone. Even if it means that after December, I’ll need a new dream.
They better do right by Eponine.
^ Samantha Barks has played Éponine on stage before. I’ve checked out some of her performances (her performing “On My Own” at the 2011 Classic Brit Awards), and I’m impressed. I think she’ll be fantastic in the movie.
I’m really more concerned about Amanda Seyfried. She’s not a bad singer (I actually really loved her in Mamma Mia!), but I don’t think she can sing Cosette’s parts. Cosette has a very opera-y voice (that’s what we uneducated people call it buahahaha. But it’s soprano, I’m told), and Amanda Seyfried doesn’t seem like she’d be able to pull that off. Fingers crossed she can!
